What is an academic calendar?

Definition:

The academic calendars are systems of internal functioning of the universities through which the dates that constitute their day to day are defined.

Does the academic calendar matter?

For each university degree within a university, at least one academic calendar must be defined. Therefore, there can be as many academic calendars as university degrees.
