Credits are what each class is “worth”. To graduate, you will need a certain number of credits depending on your degree. Each class is assigned a credit number based on the number of hours you are in the class per week and on the level of the course. The credits are usually outlined in the title of a course, for example ECON 1300 means that it is an (ECON) economics department class, (1) first level worth (3) credit three hours. Course titles vary from university to university.
