A resident assistant (RA) is the person in charge of controlling the dorms and resident halls. The RA should be an upperclassman and usually manages a single floor of a dorm, although in some big colleges where dorms can take a large number of students, the resident assistant may be in charge of just a section of the floor. The RA lives in the floor as well, and is available for any doubt or concern the students may have, as well as any urgent that can happen.
Yes, RAs get free room and board. Most colleges provide a room to the resident assistants, plus many other advantages like free food, free parking, cheaper tuition, and money. These packages vary from university to university, but it’s sure that RAs get some value things in return of their duties.
